Have you always wanted to be a firefighter? Do you want to give back to your community? Have you a few hours to spare every month for a really worthy cause? Would you like to learn a new skill and gain a qualification?

If you’ve said YES to any of these questions, have a read below!

At the ICRR Air Ambulance Base in North Cork, we need some dedicated and strong minded volunteers during operational hours to provide firefighting cover. We need YOUR help with this important safety aspect.


Duties of the volunteer firefighter include:

  • Responding to an aircraft incident on the airfield
  • Responding to a fire incident on the airfield
  • Extinguishing fires using the provided fire equipment and fire tender
  • Caring for and maintaining fire equipment and PPE
  • Various charity duties whilst on base


What do you get for your time volunteering as firefighting crew?


You will be fully trained to the appropriate standard for firefighting for the level required, and will receive a new skill and certificate! Ongoing training is provided and there may be need in the future to also attend other training courses as required.

The charity duties to be carried out whilst on base will vary, and we welcome those with other skills that may support our lifesaving efforts. The impact ICRR has in communities across the country is immense, so fill out the form below if you’d like to be an important part of this lifesaving service!
